Wellington Tennis Club’s men’s premier 1 team is the youngest overall team in the competition but youth and lesser top-flight experience has been no barrier to the guys who have played well up against the two top teams in the first two weeks of the competition.
Club president Mark Leggett said the team has “performed creditably and the players can be proud of the way they have played”.
Senior team member John Vogel leaves us this coming weekend for Dunedin to start his university studies. John started with the club when at primary school and worked his way up to Premier 1 where he played for the last two seasons.
He has been the club singles champion twice and runner up for the 2014-15 season.
Mark said, “I thank John for his contribution to our club and wish him well for his future endeavours. Hopefully he will return to Wellington during the summer break and play some matches for the club.”
