Men’s Premier 1 season summary from Mark Leggett
Men’s Premier 1 team manager Mark Leggett said his team’s 6th placing showed a lot to be positive about.
We have maintained Premier 1 post-Christmas status, and that means NOT going through promotion/relegation matches in what is a very cut-throat competition.
Our team has supported each other in giving 100% effort each week. Week after week we have been the last team at the Renouf Tennis Centre finishing off matches!
This was evident last Saturday when four out of the six matches went to 3 sets, and our Number 2 doubles were still playing well after 7 pm … with all other courts deserted!
We are hoping to have our top player Kiranpal Pannu back after Christmas. He suffered a debilitating back injury the week before interclub started.
Thank you to Bayleys Real Estate for their sponsorship support for the team, especially in the area of club uniform tops.
Premier 1 members who played in most of the ties were Kenta Naka, Dominic Miller, George Welsh, John Vogel and Andy Walmsley. Well done, guys: admirable performances from you all.
Others who also played pre-Christmas were Thomas Petersen, Roman Cruz and David Patterson. Thank you, gentlemen.
All the best to George who returns to England in the new year. Thank you for your support, George!
