Mother and daughter Hiromi and Miko Morris turned out for Wellington A in Women’s 2nd grade in the opening weekend of the new interclub season — the first mother and daughter to play in the same Wellington Tennis Club team for maybe 20 years.
It is Miko’s second season in senior interclub, after playing well in our girls’ regional team, while Hiromi has been playing mixed doubles winter interclub.
For the record, both Hiromi and Miko won their singles and, playing with different partners, both won their doubles as well in Wellington’s 6-0 whitewash of Ngatitoa.
Hiromi’s son Kent also plays interclub for Wellington Tennis Club. Last season, he was a member of the undefeated Crazy Ace boys’ team that dominated the boys’ A2 division and which, this season, is playing in A1.
