If you’ve ever wondered what happens in the old building next to court 4, well … it’s becoming something of a community hub for all sorts of arty activity.
On Sunday evenings, the Wellington Tennis Club band practises there. The tennis club has a band? Too right, rock and roll and mandolins!
Last Sunday evening, club members Neysa Albrecht, Stephen Stocks, Patrick Knowles and their band mates scoffed hot chips and a glass or two of wine and then launched into some Queen numbers, Hotel California and other rock classics.
Forget racquet strings, it’s all about the mandolin strings for these guys …
