After a busy week of early rounds in the men’s singles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles, the club champs finals were played last weekend. (The women’s club champs will be held in March.)
On Saturday, Patrik Gustafsson and Finlay Deterte played with skill and accuracy to beat Grant Nelson and Tim Naylor in a lively men’s doubles final.
The plate doubles winners were Michael Graham and Sjoerd Koster.
On Sunday, in front of an appreciative audience and in very hot conditions, Patrik Gustafsson played Michael Wilson in a highly competitive men’s singles final; Patrik eventually winning 6-3, 6-4. The high calibre of play was a credit to both players and it will stand them in good stead for the upcoming post-Christmas interclub season.
The men’s plate singles final was won by Kieran Putt, who beat Andrew Raba 6-1, 6-3. This was again a highly competitive match, and well done to both players.
